OUR STORY
MCL was built on the backbone of hard work, family values, and a deep love for machinery.
It all started with Dave McKie, a lifelong dairy farmer in the Waikato who always had a knack for getting things done right. What began as a few earthworks jobs on the side quickly turned into steady work with drainage, driveway prep, and small dig outs. If it needed digging, Dave was your guy. Word spread fast, and before long, the McKies weren’t just farming cattle, they were moving earth.
But it was Reece McKie, Dave’s son, who really brought MCL to life. Reece has been in a digger since he was 12 years old. While others were feeding out hay, he was levelling paddocks and operating machinery like he was born to do it. Farming wasn’t his passion, but give the guy a machine and some mud and he’s in his element.
As Reece took over, MCL grew from a one-machine side gig into a trusted name in earthworks and excavation across Waikato and Auckland. With Ash and Carmel supporting behind the scenes, MCL remains proudly family run, and that’s exactly how we like it.
We’re not a big corporation. We’re not here to sell you bullshit. We’re a team that shows up, works hard, and takes serious pride in what we do. From lifestyle blocks and rural driveways to subdivision site cuts and foundation prep, we get the job done right first time, every time.
